Ian’s story

“Hi Guys!! I have only been painting for about a year and, pre lockdown, only managed  one or two sessions per week. However, the isolation has given me much more time.

Being new to this, the problems i seemed to have had were, motivation (don’t get me wrong, I just love painting) and inspiration.

The King Lear competition has really  fired me up and I have submitted a number of paintings, to the 70s plus category, and there will be another one today!!

This, in itself has generated another problem, well it’s not really a problem. I get so carried away with the painting that I lose track of the time. My wife often has to come and stop me around midnight!!  As I said earlier, i'm relatively new to painting so I'm quite slow.

Yesterday I was talking to a friend who lives in the lake district, which made me think of William Wordsworth and his Daffodils poem. So that was the inspiration I needed for my next painting, which I will submit to you this afternoon

Thanks for the competition you have helped me and my painting tremendously.”
